Norwich City defender Ryan Bennett has stated he is going to work hard in order to get back into the first team.

The competition is fierce at Norwich City right now, with a whole host of players attempting to break into manager Alex Neil’s starting line-up. It is no surprise either, with the Canaries looking set to make yet another strong push for promotion this season.

As reported by Eastern Daily Press, defender Ryan Bennett is eager to work extremely hard in order to squeeze back into the first team picture.

The depth in defence is scary at Carrow Road, with Russell Martin, Timm Klose and Sebastian Bassong all currently ahead of Bennett in Neil’s plans. However, the international break may be the perfect opportunity for the 26-year-old to show what he is made of.

“All I can do is keep training hard and hope that the manager calls on me,” the 26-year-old said. “It’s hard watching from the sidelines.”

He added: “It isn’t a role I ideally want, but if that’s where the manager decides to put me, it’s up to me to do my absolute best in it.”

Bennett moved to Norwich four years ago from Peterborough, and since then he has made over 70 appearances for the club. He will be hoping to somehow work his way into the starting XI for the game against Rotherham United following the international break.
