Maddison is expected to complete a move from Norwich City to Leicester City.

Leicester City’s reportedly imminent capture of Norwich City’s James Maddison is probably not the news one Foxes youngster was hoping to hear.
Harvey Barnes – who excelled in loan spells with MK Dons and Barnsley and helped England to Toulon Tournament success last summer – has only played 220 minutes of first team football since Leicester recalled him from the latter club in January.
And the arrival of Maddison – who will complete a £24 million move to the King Power Stadium on Tuesday, according to the Sun – would leave his chances of a sustained run in the Foxes’ side looking slim.

Another temporary spell in the Championship could beckon if Barnes fails to break into Claude Puel’s plans – and that is something which would surely appeal to Norwich.
The Canaries have also sold Marley Watkins and Josh Murphy in Barnes’ position this summer, and may wish to add Matt Jarvis and Yanic Wildschut to that exodus – leaving behind just Onel Hernandez and Emiliano Buendia as options there.

And when you consider that Barnes – who is likely to earn far less than Jarvis and Wildschut – registered seven more combined goals and assists (nine) in three fewer second tier outings (23) than Wildschut last season – of which Jarvis missed the entirety – Norwich could do worse than to ask for him as Maddison’s replacement.
