The Canaries put up a brave fight at Carrow Road as Daniel Farke’s charges narrowly lost to Chelsea.

Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey has taken to Twitter with a message for teammate Todd Cantwell, plus the Canaries fans, after Daniel Farke’s side battled with Chelsea in Saturday’s early Premier League kickoff at Carrow Road.

Tammy Abraham’s brace, either side of a Mason Mount strike, helped Frank Lampard’s side claim a hard-fought 3-2 win over Norwich, who showed their resolve by equalising twice, first through Cantwell’s first Premier League goal for the club, then by the prolific Teemu Pukki, who now has five goals from three top-flight games.

Godfrey, who played the full 90 minutes against Chelsea and hit the bar with a header from a corner in the second half, was proud of Cantwell’s efforts, all the more special given he’s a local lad, and also of how much noise the Carrow Road faithful made against one of the Premier League’s biggest sides.

The 21-year-old replied with a short but appreciative message:

Cantwell came through the Canaries’ academy system and made his first-team debut in the FA Cup third round replay defeat to Chelsea in January 2018.

Earlier this summer, he signed a new contract at Norwich that commits him to Carrow Road until the summer of 2022 (official Canaries website).

Up next for Norwich is a midweek trip to Crawley Town in the Carabao Cup, and then back to Premier League action with a trip to West Ham United.
