The Carrow Road side were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of the League Two side.

Norwich City defender Ben Godfrey has taken to Twitter with a message of thanks for the Canaries fanbase who saw their team crash out of the Carabao Cup at the hands of League Two side Crawley Town at The People’s Pension Stadium.

Daniel Farke made 11 changes to his side – including five debutants for the trip and the weakened Canaries fell behind in just the 17th minute as midfielder Beryly Lubala scored with a deflected effort that wrong-footed visiting goalkeeper Ralf Fahrmann.

Norwich laboured throughout the game, although Emiliano Buendia did hit the crossbar, and there was further disappointment for the travelling contingent as defender Timm Klose was forced off after a clash of knees with Crawley forward Panutche Camara.

Though there was virtually nothing to shout about from the Norwich pack at full time, stand-in captain Godfrey took the time to praise the Canaries fans for their support with a kind seven-word tweet, and some responded to thank him and bang the drum ahead of the return to Premier League action.

Norwich have picked up three points from their first three Premier League games since returning to the top flight, and up next they head to East London to lock horns with West Ham United at the London Stadium on Saturday.
