Norwich City goalkeeper John Ruddy, who has been linked with a move to Chelsea in recent weeks, has denied quotes attributed to him on social media.
A Twitter hacker was responsible for an insensitive tweet attributed to Norwich City star John Ruddy, the goalkeeper has claimed.
The Canaries ‘keeper’s account earlier displayed a message making an insensitive joke about an accident at Alton Towers.
Four people were left with serious injuries after the “Smiler” rollercoaster smashed into a test carriage at the theme park.
In the wake of the incident, a tweet appeared on Ruddy’s timeline, that appeared to poke fun at the accident.

“Buzzing for @altontowers next weekend… at least I won’t need a fast pass for smiler,” it read.
The tweet was soon deleted, but not before the England international found himself the target of widespread condemnation from other users on the social media site.
Since then, Ruddy has taken to Twitter once again to both say sorry about the content of the message and to insist to those online that his account had been hacked with the offensive message then posted without his knowledge.

Whether fellow Twitter users are convinced by this explanation remains to be seen, with many still perplexed at the outburst.
The incident comes a week after Ruddy reacted to recent reports linking him with a move to Premier League champions Chelsea.
According to the Express, the Blues want Ruddy to move to Stamford Bridge as back-up to current no.1 Thibaut Courtois.
Ruddy remained coy on the subject, telling the news provider that he would remain a Norwich player until the club accepted a bid from another interested party.
