The Canaries signed the German defender in 2017 but he made just eight appearances for the Carrow Road side.

A number of Norwich City fans have taken to Twitter to comment on the Canaries’ announcement about Marcel Franke leaving Carrow Road and joining Hannover 96 for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old defender spent last season on loan in the German second tier with SV Darmstadt 98 and is heading straight back to Bundesliga II with Die Roten, who have just been relegated.
Hannover had announced the deal on Monday, with Franke putting pen to paper on a three-year contract, while Premier League new-boys Norwich confirmed it at their end two days later.
The German centre-back was signed by the East Anglian club from Greuther Furth in the summer of 2017 in a deal reportedly worth £2.7million, as reported by Transfermarkt.
However, he has seldom been utilised by Daniel Farke, making just eight first-team appearances in all competitions (Transfermarkt) and having also had a loan stint at Dynamo Dresden.

Indeed, Franke has not played for the club since September 2017, coming on as a late substitute in the third round of the League Cup against Brentford.
Here is what some Canaries supporters said on the social media platform about Franke’s permanent move away from Carrow Road:
