Norwich boss Daniel Farke broke the bad news ahead of the Canaries taking on Newcastle at Carrow Road this weekend.

A number of Norwich City fans have taken to Twitter to bemoan the update on Onel Hernandez, who is expected to be out for at least three months after suffering an injury while at home.
Canaries manager Daniel Farke, speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference ahead of Saturday’s meeting with Newcastle United at Carrow Road, said the 26-year-old has most likely suffered a lateral meniscus tear but could also be an ACL injury.
“He slipped over at home and fell on his knee,” Farke said in quotes posted by Norwich’s Twitter account. “We have to check if there’s something wrong with his ACL. He is out for 3 months, may need surgery.”
The Pink Un elaborated on the Norwich manager’s comments, quoting him as saying: “He slipped at his flat on the stairs and fell on his knee. It is definitely a lateral meniscus tear. We will wait for the scans but we are 95 percent certain. We also have to check if there is something with his ACL. The first diagnosis is three months, could be worse. He will probably have surgery on Monday.”
Here is what some Norwich fans said on social media regarding the bad news:
Born in Cuba, Hernandez came up through the German football pyramid, making his professional debut with Arminia Bielefeld in the second tier back in 2010, and while at Eintracht Braunschweig, he eventually earned a move to Norwich in January 2018.
His contributions last year, scoring eight times in 39 Championship appearances, helped the club finish top of the table ahead of strong challenges from Sheffield United and Leeds United, and as such the news is a big blow for the yellow and green camp.
Josip Drmic and Timm Klose will also miss out this weekend against the Magpies, while Kenny McLean and Adam Idah are major doubts.
