A number of Championship clubs are lining up a move in January for Norwich City defender Michael Turner, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Turner has found himself well down the pecking order in Alex Neil’s plans this season and the former Sunderland and Hull City star is ready to move on in search of regular first-team football.

The 32-year-old has yet to feature in the Championship for Norwich so far this season with the towering centre-back making just two brief appearances off the bench in the EFL Cup against Everton and Leeds United.

Turner, who spent last season on loan at Sheffield Wednesday and helped the Yorkshire club reach the Championship Play-Off final only to lose to Hull, has a wealth of experience having made over 420 appearances in his career to date.

Turner is the final year of his contract at Carrow Road and with the player not in the plans of Neil it seems he is set to move on for a new challenge when the transfer window reopens in January.

Several Championship sides have been monitoring Turner’s situation at Norwich and are ready to make a move for the player as they look to bolster their defensive options in the New Year.
