HITC Sport understands that Canaries are ready to wield the axe
Norwich City are looking at potential replacements for Alex Neil, who could be sacked before their next game, HITC Sport understands.
The Canaries began the season as one of the pre-season favourites for promotion and began well, but they have faltered in recent weeks and have lost their last three league games.
HITC Sport has been told that club’s hierarchy, led by chief executive Jez Moxey are now gearing up to part company with Neil – who joined the club from Hamilton in January 2015.
Neil performed brilliantly when arriving at the club, guiding them to promotion – but he failed to keep them in the Premier League, and although given a chance to take the club back-up – his future is now in major doubt.
Norwich City manager Alex Neil
HITC Sport understands former Canaries boss Paul Lambert was under serious consideration over a return to the club, before he was snapped up by their Championship rivals Wolves.
Now Norwich are looking around at their options as they feel they have a squad more than capable of finishing in the top two having spent close to £15 million on new players in the summer and only losing Nathan Redmond to Southampton from their squad.
Recent results mean they now have a mountain to climb to catch leaders Newcastle – having gone ten points adrift of the Magpies, but Norwich believe they will not have a shortage of high calibre bosses ready to step in, if they decide to pull the plug on Neil’s reign.
