Norwich City’s Wes Hoolahan will return to his club as a happy man following Ireland’s successful international break.
Wes Hoolahan has been an ever-consistent rock at the heart of Norwich City’s midfield since arriving at the club back in 2008, and in the present day he is also a vital member of the Republic of Ireland’s first team. His commitment and all round play have been heralded for years as the 34-year-old seems to just get better with age. As reported by Eastern Daily Press, Hoolahan has commented on Ireland’s recent successes in World Cup qualifiers.
The midfielder was named man of the match following his side’s 3-1 victory over Moldova, with the win lifting Martin O’Neill’s men into joint first in their qualifying group.
“You see Wales drawing with Georgia (on Sunday) who are difficult opponents,” said Hoolahan. “They’re hard to break down so six points over the last two games is great for us. You just want to go out there and do the best you can and hopefully get the three points and I was lucky enough to play my part.

“The experience we had in France and getting out of the group stage and doing so well, we are looking forward to hopefully getting out of this group, which is a tough group, and qualifying for the World Cup,” he said.
“To run out there in the green is brilliant and to get involved in the first goal. But the most important thing is the three points. The last two games, six points is a good tally.”
A World Cup appearance for the first time since 2002 is certainly within reach, and for Hoolahan he will also be setting his sights on helping the Canaries bounce back to the Premier League at the first attempt. Their next task comes against bottom of the table Rotherham United as they look to keep their momentum going.
