Norwich’s Robbie Brady celebrates scoring their second goal with team mates
Everyone loves a bit of football history, and here is something that you may not have known. Twenty three years ago, Norwich City faced Bayern Munich in a UEFA Cup tie at the Olympic Stadium in Germany – and beat them 2-1.
The historic victory was followed up by a 1-1 draw in the return leg that saw the Canaries progress at the expense of the German giants, and Bayern decided to address the anniversary in an amusing way on Twitter as reported by Eastern Daily Press.
The victory meant that Norwich became the only English side to defeat Bayern at the ground, and to this day it is one of the most famous victories in the club’s history.
In the present day, the Norfolk based side are paying tribute to the kit they wore back in the early 90s with a similar design that they wore during their recent 2-1 victory over Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Norwich supporters can only hope that they will one day reach those lofty heights once again, but for now their main focus will be an immediate return to the Premier League.
Whether or not it was the kit or the team themselves, it seems certain that neither side will forget that famous night any time soon.
