Norwich City’s Ben Marshall joined Millwall on loan until the end of the season.
Norwich City manager Daniel Farke suggests his side will target a new winger ahead of the transfer deadline day despite recently allowing Ben Marshall to join Millwall on loan, the Eastern Daily Press report.
“It is necessary to search for some options and we will do this until the last hour of the transfer window. Perhaps there is a solution we can find in the wide position or full back area,” Farke explained.
“The homegrown aspect must also be a concern. Carlton and Louis fit that bill. For that perhaps, in the winger position, a homegrown solution to help us add some competition to the squad. We wouldn’t change our mind [on Ben Marshall]. He made it clear he wanted to have this move.”
German boss Farke initially told the Eastern Daily Press in December that he wasn’t looking to make any new signings in January, explaining that he didn’t want to rock the tight-knit group atmosphere at Carrow Road.
But several injuries have seemingly changed his mind. Carlton Morris and Louis Thompson have been ruled out for up to ten weeks, joining Timm Klose, Moritz Leitner and Alexander Tettey on the side-lines.
Moreover, Nelson Oliveira has joined Reading on loan, Ivo Pinto is deemed out of favour and winger Ben Marshall has re-joined Championship strugglers Millwall on loan after spending six months at The Den last term.
Norwich are down to the bare bones. In order to maintain their promotion push to the Premier League, the Canaries must look to bring in at least one more wide player before the transfer deadline.
The Norfolk club are currently sitting in second spot in the Championship, three points ahead of Sheffield United who they face at Carrow Road this weekend.
