Norwich City have been linked with Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden.

According to a report in The Telegraph, Norwich City have joined with the likes of West Ham United and Brighton and Hove Albion in targeting Newcastle United’s Isaac Hayden.

It is said that the former Arsenal man has made it clear how he wants to leave Newcastle this summer. The Magpies, however, value him at £15 million and could even demand more for the 24-year-old.

Norwich will be scouring the transfer market as they seek reinforcements for their Premier League campaign next season after they lifted the Championship title with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa last weekend.

Taking an interest in £15 million-rated Hayden makes little sense, and potentially signing him for that sort of figure would completely fly in the face of what the Canaries have been about over the past 18 months.

Norwich’s promotion has been built on excellent recruitment and a unique way of working. After their relegation from the Premier League back in 2015-16, they’ve had to do things differently amid financial restrictions.

Manager Daniel Farke came in, and they began to sign players from abroad who most Championship clubs wouldn’t have heard of while selling off their better players such as James Maddison and Josh Murphy.

Players such as Teemu Pukki, Onel Hernandez, Moritz Leitner, Emiliano Buendia and Marco Stiepermann arrived for bargain fees, and they have all contributed to the club’s successful promotion this season.

Norwich sporting director Stuart Webber recently told Sky Sports how the club will continue to work under the same principles. He predicts the Canaries will have the lowest Premier League transfer and wage budget.

According to Spotrac, Hayden earns £22,000 per week. While his wages may fit into Norwich’s budget, his price tag certainly doesn’t and for such a fee the club has shown they can find better value for money abroad.
