Middlesbrough have just sacked the 43-year-old, and the Canaries are without a manager after dismissing Alex Neil.
Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka
Following the news that Middlesbrough have relieved Aitor Karanka of his duties, Norwich City fans will be hoping that their board are currently figuring out how to lure the Spaniard to Carrow Road.
Norwich themselves are without a manager, and with relative slim pickings in the unemployed managerial line for a job of the Canaries’ stature, Karanka’s sacking couldn’t have come at a better time for the club.
Some will feel that Karanka’s sacking at Premier League side Middlesbrough was harsh, given Boro have the fourth best defensive record in the league and that Karanka was badly let down by Boro behind the scenes in the January transfer window.
With goals in painfully short supply, all of the four attacking targets Karanka had outlined and vigorously chased went elsewhere, meaning Boro’s position in the table – currently 19th – isn’t a massive shock.

However, Karanka knows the Championship incredibly well after taking Middlesbrough to a play-off final – which, ironically, they lost to Norwich – and then to automatic promotion, playing a superb style of football.
Even if it means having a caretaker manager until the summer and then looking to announce Karanka then, Norwich must do all they can to hire the 43-year-old, as right now, he’s their best chance of a Premier League return.
