Rangers already have a number of midfielders at Steven Gerrard’s disposal, but are now being linked with a shock move for another one.
The Gers landed Bongani Zungu on loan last month, with the South African international now fighting for first-team football in order to win a permanent move.
The problem is that Gerrard also has Ryan Jack, Steven Davis, Glen Kamara, Joe Aribo and Scott Arfield at his disposal, with a packed midfield full of internationals.
However, The Scottish Sun report that Rangers want Kenny McLean, with Gerrard tracking his situation at Norwich City ahead of the January window.
It’s suggested that Rangers could offer a cash or loan-to-buy deal for McLean, who has only started four league games this season.
The Gers tracked McLean under Pedro Caixinha, but failed to sign him from Aberdeen in 2017, and he has since featured for Norwich in the Premier League.
A boyhood Rangers fan, McLean may well fancy a move to Ibrox, and Norwich fans don’t seem too fussed about the prospect of losing him to the Gers.
Some suggested that they would drive McLean to Rangers, feeling that he isn’t the best fit for Daniel Farke’s style of play.
Others thing that now is the right time to sell, branding him an ‘average’ player as Rangers allegedly plot a move.
