Sebastian Bassong was released by Norwich City at the end of the season but could make an intriguing move to the Turkish Super Lig with Bursaspor.

When Stuart Webber was appointed as Norwich City’s new sporting director, he made clear that changes were afoot after a season of underachievement at Carrow Road.

And Sebastian Bassong was one of the first victims of the new regime. With his contract expiring at the end of the 2016/17 campaign, the Cameroon international was released alongside a number of his experienced team-mates, including John Ruddy and Michael Turner.

However, after making just eight Championship starts last season, it appears that there is no offers forthcoming within England for the former Newcastle and Tottenham defender.

As such, it appears that Bassong is about to bring an end to his nine-year stay in England. According to Milliyet, Turkish Super Lig outfit Bursaspor will offer the 30-year-old the chance to kick-start his career in Eastern Europe.

The 2010 Super Lig champions finished a disappointing 15th place in the top flight last season and appear to be making a number of changes as they hope for a better campaign next time around.

And while attempting to bring in Bassong to improve their defence, it appears that Bursaspor are also shaking things up in the dugout too.

Because Milliyet add that the Bursa-based club are set to appoint former Croatian legend Robert Prosinecki as their new manager. The 48-year-old appears likely to return to club football after spending the last three years in charge of the Azerbaijan national team.

Therefore, just a few months after being coached by Alan Irvine, Bassong will be plying his trade under a former Real Madrid and Barcelona midfielder who won the 1991 European Cup with Red Star Belgrade to boot.
