Yedlin received a number of warm messages after leaving Tottenham Hotspur for Newcastle on Wednesday.
Norwich City and Stoke City players were among several footballing Twitter users to congratulate DeAndre Yedlin after his move from Tottenham Hotspur to Newcastle United.
Right-back Yedlin completed a £5 million switch to St. James’ Park on Wednesday, having failed to win a place in Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.
After his capture was confirmed by Newcastle, the former Sunderland loanee posted on the social media website: “Even though the time was short want to say thank you to Tottenham Hotspur for everything! Wish the club the all the best in the future!”
He added: “Very excited to sign with Newcastle United and can’t wait to get started!”
Yedlin is not the only fringe player to leave White Hart Lane this summer and another, Alex Pritchard, who was signed by Norwich in an £8 million deal at the start of the month, was one of the first to congratulate his former teammate.
“Congrats and all the best,” the winger posted on Twitter. “See you soon.”
And the pair may only have a month to wait until their first reunion, with Newcastle hosting the Canaries on 28 September.
A number of Yedlin’s international colleagues were also quick to react to the American’s big move, with Stoke’s Geoff Cameron among them.
“Congrats bro! Do your thing homie!” the defender wrote.
Both players feature in Jurgen Klinsmann’s USMNT squad for the upcoming World Cup qualifiers against St. Vincent & the Grenadines and Trinidad & Tobago.
