Norwich City’s strong start to the Championship campaign appears to have unraveled in recent weeks.

Under Alex Neil, the Canaries made a lightning start to the season as they jumped to the top of the Championship table with no signs of slowing down. Unfortunately in the last few weeks things have taken a sour turn, with the club now without a win in four heading into their next fixture. Whilst some people are blaming the manager, the blame really falls on everyone involved.

Given Norwich’s recent history it seemed understandable that fans were tipping them for promotion. Everyone seemed adamant that they would once again reach the top flight and given their strong run of results, many thought it was just a matter of time.

The problem is that the cockiness was already starting to surface at Carrow Road. With such a strong attacking force it’s easy to forget that a side needs to be balanced out, and that Norwich defence has now had it’s flaws exposed to the world.

Some of the first team players have looked down right lethargic in recent weeks, perhaps taking their opposition too lightly. The Brighton game is a perfect example of this, and after the first few goals went in they seemed to just give up completely.

The feeling that many are getting from Carrow Road is that promotion is a formality, with many of these players not possessing the attitude necessary to succeed at this level. You need to maintain your determination and commitment from the first minute to the last in this division, because if you don’t you are sure as hell going to pay for it.

These are Norwich’s roots, and the club needs to dig deep and remember that staying humble in such an unforgiving league is vital.
