The Celtic defender came off early during the Bhoys’ Scottish League Cup quarter-final win on Wednesday.

The Norway manager Per Joar Hansen has described the injury suffered by Celtic’s Kristoffer Ajer on Wednesday as a “disaster” for his team.
Ajer was substituted barely half an hour into Celtic’s 1-0 win at St Johnstone in the Scottish League Cup.
The Bhoys boss Brendan Rodgers shared afterwards his belief it is a hamstring problem that was suffered by the 20-year-old, who could miss between four and six weeks if so.
That would rule Ajer out of Norway’s upcoming Uefa Nations League fixtures against Slovenia and Bulgaria next month, and Hansen said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun: “Kristoffer being out of those games is a disaster for us. He is already a very important player.
“We will check with Celtic’s doctors, but it certainly seems there is no chance of him making the games.

“Now we will have to look at alternatives, but it’s certainly not good for us to lose a player of his quality.”
Ajer only made his Norway debut at the start of this year, but has already appeared on six occasions for the Scandinavian nation.

His injury leaves Celtic – who also lost Filip Benkovic (injury) and Dedryck Boyata (suspension) against St Johnstone – increasingly thin on the ground at centre-back, with Jozo Simunovic also sidelined.
