Situation over Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty has been addressed.
Rangers striker Kyle Lafferty was a notable name in the latest Northern Ireland squad.
Lafferty pulled out of their last fixtures at the last possible moment and was roundly criticised in the media.
Northern Ireland boss Michael O’Neill considers the matter to be over with and says he has held talks with Lafferty, along with Rangers.
Lafferty was banned from playing in Rangers’ next game after Northern Ireland invoked a UEFA rule.
O’Neill says he held clear the air talks with Rangers boss Steven Gerrard to address the situation.
He told the Belfast Telegraph: “I have spoken with Kyle and had good conversations, both on the phone and in person when I met with him in Glasgow.
“I also had a good conversation with both Steven Gerrard and Gary McAllister at Rangers.
“It’s important to talk to Rangers because you need a good relationship with club managers. We have two players at Rangers now and a number of young players in their under-age teams as well.
“Relationships there are good.”
Lafferty is still not certain to be involved as he has to prove his fitness.
He missed Rangers’ Europa League game against Spartak Moscow last night and has played just 19 minutes of football since the last international break.
