West Ham United summer signing Havard Nordtveit has told ESPN that he has nothing to prove in the Premier League.
Nordtveit joined West Ham in the summer transfer window after leaving Borussia Monchengladbach at the end of last season.
The 26-year-old, who can play as a defensive midfielder or as a defender, has insisted that he does not have anything to prove in England.
The Norway international, who was on the books of Arsenal from 2007 until 2010, has suggested that he did enough during his time at Monchengladbach to prove his quality.
When asked if he had come back to England with something to prove, Nordtveit told ESPN: “No, I had five-and-a-half quite good years in Germany.
“Now I’ve played in Bundesliga I know how that league is and I want to try to get as many games as possible in the Premier League and also the other cups and everything here with West Ham. It’s football.
“Of course, coming from Germany to England I’m still trying to adapt to the football a little bit but so far, so good. I’m really happy to be a part of the Hammers and looking forward to playing many more games.”
Nordtveit scored four goals and created nine chances in 30 Bundesliga appearances for Monchengladbach during the 2015-16 campaign.
The midfielder had a pass accuracy of 82% and a shot accuracy of 47%, and won 82 headers, nine dribbles and 24 tackles, according to Squawka.com.
West Ham enjoyed a successful 2015-16 campaign and will be aiming to finish in the top six of the Premier League this season.
The Hammers will kick off their 2016-17 Premier League campaign with an away game against Chelsea.
