Serge Aurier might be leaving Tottenham Hotspur it would seem.

The Ivory Coast international joined Tottenham from Paris Saint-Germain back in 2017 but it’s been a rocky four years for him in North London.

Nobody doubts that Aurier is a major asset to Spurs as an attacking right-back and his scooped assist for Gareth Bale last weekend proved as much.

But defensively, there have long been question marks over the 28-year-old.

According to Calciomercato, Aurier’s agents have told Tottenham that the AC Milan-linked defender wants to leave the Lilywhites during the summer.

Here’s how some fans of the North London club reacted on Twitter:

Aurier has been a decent player throughout the past four years but ‘decent’ is where it stops.

If we’re honest, Tottenham have never really found a top-drawer replacement for Kyle Walker and you could argue that the team have been progressively worse since losing the Manchester City right-back.

Aurier clearly isn’t the answer and neither is Matt Doherty, who joined Spurs from Wolves last summer.

But if Aurier does indeed go, it does indicate that chairman Daniel Levy intends on bringing in another right-back and hopefully for the team, he can be closer to Walker than Aurier, Doherty or Kieran Trippier.
