Newcastle United fans are concerned that Henry Mauriss could be about to make a mistake before he even takeover at St. James’ Park.

The Telegraph claims that Mauriss wants to hand Newcastle boss Steve Bruce a chance to prove himself if he does get the green-light to buy the club.

Mauriss has emerged as a more and more likely candidate to takeover at Newcastle, with the Saudi-backed bid stalling.

But the latest reports that Mauriss wants to keep Bruce in charge at Newcastle have not gone down well with supporters.

And there are concerns that if Bruce isn’t dismissed quickly that any potential new owner could rapidly lose the faith of Newcastle’s fans.

Bruce has done a credible job in his first season in charge at Newcastle, but he has failed to win over the bulk of the Magpies fan-base.

The experienced boss has generally operated with a fairly defensive brand of football, and there are question marks over whether he is the right manager to take Newcastle forward, if their potential new owner has lofty ambitions.

Newcastle’s takeover has now been going on for over three months, with frustrations growing on Tyneside.
