Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter in panicked fashion over a report involving Sergio Reguilon.

Spanish news outlet El Chiringuito revealed that Real Madrid want to activate their buy-back clause for the Spain international.

Zinedine Zidane’s side sold the left-back to Jose Mourinho for £27 million back in the summer, where Reguilon then signed a £48,077-a-week contract in north London.

According to Football London, the Spanish champions can buy the 23-year-old back in either the upcoming summer, or the summer of 2022.

If Los Blancos do activate the clause, then Tottenham will at least land themselves a ‘healthy’ profit of £15 million, again according to Football London.

It’s no surprise that Tottenham fans are panicking about this news.

Reguilon has been nothing short of superb since swapping Madrid for London, ousting Ben Davies from the left-back role with some eye-catching displays.

Specifically, the Spaniard’s dribbling skills, crossing ability and desire to get forward have impressed.

There is one glimmer of hope, however. The Tottenham No.3 must agree to any potential return to the Santiago Bernabeu – he can choose to reject Real Madrid’s advances.

In that respect, Mourinho and the Spurs players have a duty to keep Reguilon as happy as possible.

Of course, you’d like them to do that anyway, but especially between now and the end of the 2022 summer window!

Let’s see how the Tottenham fans reacted to the news…
