Newcastle fans have taken to Twitter to express their sadness after the club announced that DeAndre Yedlin had left to join Galatasaray.

The 62-cap USA international has joined the Turkish giants on a permanent deal, as his contract on Tyneside was due to expire in June.

The Deadline Day switch brings an end to five years at St James’ Park for the right-back, who experienced a lot at Newcastle.

After arriving from Tottenham while the Magpies were in the Championship, Yedlin performed well in helping the club back to the Premier League.

The 27-year-old netted against Derby on his second appearance for Newcastle, and went on to make 125 appearances for the Magpies.

In those outings, Yedlin scored three goals and registered 11 assists.

He was undoubtedly a key player in getting Newcastle back to where they belong.

While he hasn’t quite been as exceptional in the Premier League, he has always performed professionally and with commitment when called upon.

In an unusually revealing announcement, Galatasaray confirmed that they signed Yedlin free of charge. The Super Lig outfit also unveiled his earnings over the next two-and-a-half seasons.

It should be an exciting experience for the American, and one that he deserves for giving Newcastle five solid years of his career.
