Liverpool fans have taken to Twitter to react after Everton posted a powerful statement on the European Super League.
The Toffees completely ripped into Tottenham, Chelsea, Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City and Liverpool for their involvement in the elitist scheme.
Rightly so.
Everton make a number of good points, asking the sextuple to reconsider what they wish their footballing legacy to be.
Carlo Ancelotti’s side also paid tribute to the likes of Accrington Stanley, Gillingham, Lincoln City, Morecambe, Southend United, Notts County.
Everton were keen to emphasise that it doesn’t matter if it’s these clubs, or the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea – everyone is equal.
It speaks volumes that a number of Liverpool fans loved Everton’s statement, even though the Reds are heavily criticised within it.
That just goes to show that this European Super League nonsense went above footballing rivalries.
Every football fan was on the same page over this matter, regardless of who you support.
Thankfully, Everton – and many more – have got their wish, as all six Premier League clubs have now withdrawn from the European Super League.
