Well, Rio Ferdinand has said on his YouTube channel that if Manchester United came calling for Mikel Arteta at the end of the season, then the Arsenal boss would leave for Old Trafford.
The former United defender is confident that Arteta would not think twice about swapping Arsenal for United.
TalkSPORT presenter Jeff Stelling has laughed off the suggestion from Ferdinand about Arteta.
Stelling said on talkSPORT (6:45 am, February 27, 2024): “There is another Arsenal story today as well, by the way. Rio Ferdinand has been quoted as saying Mikel Arteta would 100% go to Old Trafford to become Manchester United boss if he was offered.
“Now, Rio was speaking, surprise surprise, on his YouTube channel. I think it’s known as clickbait, Rio. We are not all as daft as we look, pal.”
Ally McCoist responded: “That’s my mate you are talking about. There is no way he would do that, Jeff.”
Stelling replied: “Oh my goodness me, talk about nonsense. We are gullible, but we are not that gullible.”
My View: Mikel Arteta will not leave Arsenal for Manchester United
In my opinion, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta will not leave for Manchester United anytime soon.
Arteta is well-settled at Arsenal and is loved by the Emirates Stadium faithful. He has built a team in his image and is trusted by his bosses at the Gunners.
Why would Arteta leave Arsenal for United? Yes, I understand that the Red Devils are arguably the biggest club in England. And, I know that there is a buzz around Old Trafford after the arrival of Sir Jim Ratcliffe as an investor.
But, Arsenal are going places. The Gunners are now competing for the Premier League title and are playing in the UEFA Champions League.
United are not in a position to win the league title anytime soon, and they may not even get into the UEFA Champions League next season.
