Gary Lineker has taken to Twitter to react after Patrice Evra aimed some critical comments in the direction of Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola.
What’s the story?
Well, the Manchester United icon has accused the Spaniard of stripping the personality from Manchester City, as he doesn’t want leaders among the group.
As quoted by the Daily Mail, Evra said: “Manchester City need leaders but Pep Guardiola doesn’t want leaders. He doesn’t want personality. He’s the leader. That’s why when they’re in trouble they don’t want to step up. He builds teams like that, he can’t coach people with personality.”
Now, Lineker seems to be in strong disagreement over that claim from the Frenchman, as he hopped onto Twitter to share his thoughts.
You can see what the BBC Match of the Day host thought of Evra’s comments below.
It comes after the Citizens were knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid in embarrassing fashion, where there was a distinct lack of character on show.
Manchester City conceded three goals in the 90th, 91st and 95th minute to let Carlo Ancelotti’s side flip the game upside down and book their ticket to the final in Paris.

In that respect, you could argue that Evra’s comments about the £378,409-a-week man hold some weight.
Patrice Evra may be right about Pep Guardiola at Manchester City
In our view, the 40-year-old might have a point when mentioning that Guardiola “can’t coach people with personality”.
Having read Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s book, the Swede explains how he was given the silent treatment by the 51-year-old during their time at Barcelona.
As Sky Sports detail, the pair have a long-running feud due to their ill-fated time at the Camp Nou, which adds credence to Evra’s comments.

Ibrahimovic is arguably the biggest personality in football, and Guardiola seemingly had no idea about how to interact with him during his one and only season in charge of the striker at Barcelona.
Of course, that is just one example of when Guardiola might struggle to deal with personality, but it certainly adds an interesting dimension to Evra’s remark.
