Kevin Campbell has said on Highbury Squad that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was right to publicly explain the situation surrounding Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Campbell has defended Arsenal boss Arteta for explaining why Aubameyang was not included in the squad for the Premier League game against Southampton at the weekend.

The Gunners won 3-0 at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta said that Aubameyang had a disciplinary issue, and former Arsenal striker Campbell has defended the Gunners’ boss.

Kevin Campbell on Mikel Arteta – Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation

Campbell said: “I keep hearing from some Gooners that Arteta has thrown him under the bus. I have never heard so much nonsense in all my life.”

Arsenal manager was right

In our opinion, Arteta was right to publicly explain Aubameyang’s situation.

The Arsenal fans needed to know what was going on with their captain.

The story would have come out anyway, so Arteta was right in telling the Arsenal fans what actually happened.

In our view, we should respect Arteta even more for telling the Arsenal fans the truth.

It will be interesting to see how Arteta, Aubameyang and Arsenal handle the situation now.

Aubameyang has been stripped off the Arsenal captaincy and will not play against West Ham United in the Premier League this week.

Should the Gunners start planning for the future without their club captain, who has not been in great form for over a year now?
