Liverpool left-back Andy Robertson has been dismissive about Aston Villa goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez, as quoted on the club’s official website.
Robertson has noted how the £20 million Martinez (The Guardian) likes to get into the opposition players’ heads during penalties.
The Liverpool defender has said that he and his teammates knew about that, which is why they allowed Mohamed Salah to ‘go into his own space’ on Saturday.
Salah earned a penalty in the second half during Liverpool’s Premier League game against Villa at Anfield in the Premier League.
The Egypt international forward himself stepped up to take the spot kick.
And he scored.
Liverpool won 1-0.

Liverpool’s Andy Robertson on Aston Villa’s Emiliano Martinez
Robertson told Liverpool’s official website: “Their ‘keeper is known for saving penalties but also for trying to get in whoever is taking it’s head.
“I think we did a good job getting around Mo, letting Mo go into his own space and try to let him focus and let us deal with the kind of nonsense.
“Luckily Mo stayed composed and the ‘keeper went the right way, but when it’s that far in the corner you don’t save those.”
Smart decision
In our opinion, it was really smart of the Liverpool players to stop Martinez from trying to get into Salah’s head.
We saw the former Arsenal goalkeeper doing his antics against Manchester United with Cristiano Ronaldo and Bruno Fernandes.
Robertson’s comments indicate that the Liverpool players had already prepared for Martinez’s antics.
And it paid off.
The win maintains Liverpool’s charge towards the Premier League title this season.
