Leeds United lost 2-0 to Liverpool in the quarter-final tie at Anfield.
Leeds United’s run in the EFL Cup has come to an end at the quarter-final stages after they succumbed to Liverpool at Anfield.
Goals from Divock Origi and 17-year-old Ben Woodburn proved enough for Liverpool to win the game.

But there is no doubt that Leeds United can be very proud of their performance in the game.
Garry Monk’s side looked like they were on the verge of scoring on numerous occasions in the second-half, with Kemar Roofe striking the post from range in an excellent performance from the Championship side.
In the end, Liverpool just had enough quality to get over the line.

But former Leeds United striker and BBC pundit Noel Whelan was over the moon with Leeds’ performance and believes Aston Villa will be very worried ahead of their Championship clash this weekend. Speaking on BBC Radio Leeds he stated:
“They’ve not let anyone down whatsoever.
“If anything you can take so many more positives pout of this defeat. Because I tell you now Aston Villa have been watching this and they would have seen a very strong Leeds United outfit.
“Everything else went for them but the finishing touch.”

Leeds had plenty of chances in the game. Kemar Roofe hit the post and Hadi Sacko should have done better with several good chances.
Leeds fans and the players can be buoyed by this excellent performance and hopefully they can get the better of Villa at the weekend.
