Leeds United have picked up an impressive 1-0 win against Wolverhampton Wanderers to put a positive spin on the end of a mixed week for the Yorkshire club.

Leeds went into the game disappointed to only pick up one point from impressive performances against Derby County and Wigan Athletic this week.

But a goal, potentially from Kemar Roofe but maybe an own goal, was enough to win the game for Leeds.

Speaking after the game BBC Radio Leeds pundit and former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was discussing the performance against Wolves.

He was happy with the result, but was again disappointed that Leeds did not put Wolves to the sword in the game and is still awaiting this Leeds team to batter someone this campaign:

“I still keep thinking that one of these days we are going to batter one of these teams four or five nil.

“Christmas is coming up, who knows? Santa may give me my wish.”

However, he is happy that Leeds are creating the chances needed to pull off such a feat:

“I’d be more worried if we weren’t creating the chances. This season we seem to be creating more chances than we did last season and it’s just about the ruthlessness in front of goal, hitting the target and making keepers work.

“If they just get that part right we won’t be struggling at the end of games defending 1-0 leads.”

Leeds have certainly been in good form recently but the recent results against Derby and Wigan highlighted the need for Leeds to start putting the ball in the back of the net more.

If Leeds can become more ruthless, as Whelan suggests, then there will be no doubt that they will be within a shout of the play-offs this season.
