Leeds United took on Burton Albion in the Championship this afternoon. The Whites came away from the game with a 2-0 making it seven games unbeaten at Elland Road.

Chris Wood scored a penalty in the second-half before a last minute breakaway saw Souleymane Doukara secure all three points.

It was a great result for Leeds which moved Garry Monk’s men even closer to the Championship play-off spots.

The result was fantastic for Leeds and former Leeds player Noel Whelan was one man certainly impressed by the result.

He reserved special praise for the performance of French forward Doukara. He had this to say about his performance from the bench on BBC Radio Leeds:

“Doukara is showing that he cares and wants to run – he was forward-thinking today and got balls across that, even though they didn’t get there, showed he was doing the right thing.

“That’s the thing you want from your substitutes.

“Beforehand he wasn’t even getting on the bench because of Antonsson now he’s the first person you turn to come on and provide something.

“Has he done it? Not just once, twice!”

Doukara’s good performance today followed up from his impactful appearance from the bench in the EFL Cup against Norwich City during the week.

He is clearly now on the right path again at Leeds after looking like a player unwanted by the Leeds boss during the earlier stages of the season.

If he can keep up his performances as a super-sub then there is no doubt Leeds have the strength in depth developing to mount a serious promotion campaign.
