Chris Wood has been superb, but do Leeds United need another striker?
Noel Whelan has told BBC Sport that he would like to see Leeds United sign Jordan Rhodes in January.
The Middlesbrough striker is expected to leave the Premier League side next month after starting just two top-flight matches under Aitor Karanka this season.
The 26-year-old is a tried-and-tested talent in the Championship and plenty of clubs in the second tier could be vying for his signature.
Aston Villa seem to be among those but The Sun reported this week that Boro are looking for around £12 million for the English marksman.
Leeds are certainly among the Championship clubs who need another striker.
Chris Wood has netted 11 league goals this season, helping the Whites move fifth in the division, but another goalscorer would certainly boost their hopes of reaching the Premier League next season.
And Whelan, who spent two years at Leeds in the 1990s, says he would love to see Rhodes turn up at the West Yorkshire club.
“If we had a natural goalscorer up there, as well, that could be the difference come the end of the season,” he told BBC Sport.
“I think [Souleymane] Doukara did a good job [against Preston on Boxing Day] but he’s better coming off the wide areas.
“I’d like to see someone like Jordan Rhodes who could get ten in the second half of the season.”
