Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United will face Birmingham City this afternoon.

Noel Whelan suggested on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:40pm, April 5, 2019) that Patrick Bamford should start for Leeds United against Birmingham City this afternoon.

Leeds will return to action in a few hours’ time when they take on Birmingham away from home at St Andrew’s in the Championship.

Ahead of the match, Leeds head coach Marcelo Bielsa said that 26-year-old striker Kemar Roofe is available after recovering from injury, as quoted on Leeds Live.

Bamford has been playing well for the Whites in recent weeks, and it will be interesting to see if the former Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough striker starts against Birmingham this afternoon.

Former Leeds striker Whelan has given his take on the situation, and he has suggested that Bielsa should start Bamford and keep Roofe on the substitutes’ bench.

Noel Whelan said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:40pm, April 5, 2019): “I think even though Kemar Roofe is the top scorer, I don’t believe he has had enough games to actually get match-sharp.

“I think he would probably be an impact player for me tomorrow, but I would still go with Patrick Bamford to lead the line.”
