Pundit Noel Whelan has taken to Twitter to admit that he doesn’t think Tyler Roberts is the answer in the Leeds United attack, urging the club to sign another striker in January.

The Whites beat Sheffield United 1-0 on Saturday afternoon, but it took an absolute howler from Dean Henderson to unlock the Blades, with Jack Clarke capitalising on a terrible pass to cross for Pablo Hernandez to bag the winner.

Marcelo Bielsa won’t be too worried about his side’s inability to break down United on more occasions, but he may just be considering another striker in the January transfer window.

Kemar Roofe has thrived this season, but Patrick Bamford is only just returning from a major injury, and Tyler Roberts has yet to really show that he can be relied upon.

Signed by Victor Orta from West Bromwich Albion in the January transfer window, Roberts missed the second half of last season through injury, meaning he had to wait until this season for his debut.

The Welsh international has notched three goals and one assist in eight Championship appearances this season, but still seem a little raw at the age of just 19.

Whilst he clearly has potential, pundit Whelan has now suggested that he doesn’t think Roberts is the answer to Leeds’ striking role just yet as he continues his development at Elland Road.

Whelan added that Leeds more more ‘ready made quality’ and experience in attack, with three strikers not enough, urging the Whites to back Bielsa with a fourth striker in the January window.
