Aston Villa are reportedly interested in signing Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

Noel Whelan has suggested on BBC Radio Leeds that reported Aston Villa central midfielder Kalvin Phillips could leave Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

According to The Daily Star, promoted Premier League club Villa are interested in signing Phillips from Championship outfit Leeds in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Villans have made an offer of £15 million for the central midfielder and are not willing to pay more.

Former Leeds striker Whelan, who now works as a pundit for BBC Radio Leeds, believes that if a good offer comes in, then the Whites will sell Phillips.

Whelan said about Phillips on BBC Radio Leeds: “I don’t think you can promise anything in this game, especially now that you have got a good young player that other clubs in the Premier League have been looking at, wanting to buy, putting in offers.

“If an offer came around that was too good to say no to, he would be on his way out, no shadow of a doubt about that.”

Major potential mistake

Phillips is one of the best young central midfielders in the Championship, and Leeds really do not have a suitable replacement for him in the squad at the moment.

Selling the 23-year-old so late in the summer window would be a huge mistake from Leeds, as the Whites will not have enough time to find a suitable replacement.
