Noel Whelan has suggested on Twitter that reported Aston Villa targets Tyrone Mings and Gary Cahill would be good signings for Leeds United.

The former Leeds striker made the suggestion in the wake of speculation that Pontus Jansson is leaving the Whites in the summer transfer window.

According to West London Sport, the Sweden international central defender will leave Leeds for Championship rivals Brentford this summer.

Whelan has suggested on Twitter that 26-year-old Bournemouth defender Mings or 33-year-old former Chelsea defender Cahill would be a good replacement for Jansson at Elland Road.

Mings, who can operate as a central defender or as a left-back, spent the second half of last season on loan at Villa and helped the Villans clinch promotion to the Premier League from the Championship via the playoffs.

According to The Birmingham Mail, Villa want to sign Mings from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.

As for Cahill, the Englishman is a free agent at the moment, having left Chelsea at the end of last season, and, according to The Sun, Villa manager Dean Smith wants to bring him to Villa Park.
