Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United will face Millwall in the Championship on Saturday.
Strikers Patrick Bamford and Kemar Roofe both are injured at the moment and will miss the Championship match against Millwall away from home at The Den on Saturday afternoon.
Tyler Roberts is fit and available, but former Leeds striker Whelan does not think that the 19-year-old striker Wales international striker – who has been at the Whites since January 2018 when he moved from West Bromwich Albion for a transfer fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £2.5 million – is in good form at the moment.
Whelan has suggested that 27-year-old Saiz, who can operate as an attacking midfielder or as a forward, is deployed up front for Leeds against Millwall.
“Tyler Roberts, he could go upfront, but he is not looking to me in tip-top form at the moment,” Whelan said on The Noel Whelan Show on BBC Radio Leeds on Friday evening (6:09pm, September 14, 2018).
“I know he has been away on international duty. Maybe that would have given him a little bit more confidence and belief in himself.”
Whelan added: “You could put Saiz up front. You could do that. You could have him playing along that line. He is intelligent enough to come off defenders and get into those little bits of pace and bring the wide players in, with Alioski.”
Big test
Playing at home will give Millwall an advantage, and it is going to be tough for Leeds to pick up all three points this afternoon.
The West Yorkshire outfit, though, can get a positive result if they score an early goal and are tight at the back.
