Noel Whelan was impressed by Caleb Ekuban’s pace for Leeds United.

Noel Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that he couldn’t get over just how quick Leeds United attacker Caleb Ekuban is.
The 23-year-old showed Leeds what they were missing on Sunday with an impressive 11-minute cameo in the 2-1 win over Middlesbrough which was his first appearance since August due to injury.
Ekuban, a £500,000 signing from Chievo Verona in the summer, replaced Kemar Roofe and certainly enhanced his reputation, making him an exciting prospect over the coming weeks and months.

The jet-heeled forward looked to torment a tired Boro defence at every opportunity, and former Leeds striker Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds that his speed is simply “phenomenal”.
“His closing down and the pace to him, which I’ve never seen before, he was unbelievable.
“The amount of ground he covered in such little time, his pace is phenomenal.”

The Whites visit top-of-the-table Wolverhampton Wanderers on Wednesday and although Ekuban is fit again, it might be a bit early to expect him to start.
Plus, Kemar Roofe, superb against Garry Monk’s side, deserves to keep his spot at number nine for now.
