Noel Whelan has praised Leeds United attacker Tyler Roberts on BBC Radio Leeds (4:33pm, April 3, 2021) for his performance against Sheffield United at Elland Road this afternoon.

Roberts, who can operate as a striker, winger or attacking midfielder, started for Leeds in the Yorkshire derby against the Blades.

The Wales international was deployed as an attacking midfielder behind star striker Patrick Bamford.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was on co-commentary duty for BBC Radio Leeds, and he was impressed by the display produced by Roberts.

Whelan said about Roberts in the 69th minute on BBC Radio Leeds (4:33pm, April 3, 2021): “Roberts has done very well, yeah, really impressed. He has been heavily involved throughout the day, hasn’t he? Involved in the second goal. He has been fantastic today.”

How did Tyler Roberts play?

Roberts looked very lively against United and played his part in the win for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The Wales international played his role in the second goal that Leeds scored against the Blades at Elland Road and should be pleased with his overall performance.

The 22-year-old took three shots and one was on target, played one key pass, had a pass accuracy of 65.7%, took 45 touches, and made one tackle and one clearance, according to WhoScored.

The win against the Blades has enhanced Leeds’s chances of finishing in the Premier League top 10 this season.
