Noel Whelan has told BBC Radio Leeds that Swansea City central defender Kyle Bartley would be a good signing for Leeds United in the summer transfer window.

According to The Yorkshire Evening Post, Leeds are interested in signing Bartley from Swansea in the summer transfer window.

It has been reported that the Championship club have opened talks with the Premier League side over the permanent transfer of the 26-year-old centre-back.

Former Leeds striker Whelan believes that the former Arsenal prospect would be a good signing for Leeds.

Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds: “I wouldn’t mind seeing Kyle Bartley back. He is a leader. He is one of these people that spoke very honestly after games.”

“We have missed him this season, absolutely no shadow of a doubt about that,” added Whelan.

Good signing

Bartley has had injury problems this season, but there is no doubt that the Swansea defender would be a brilliant signing for Leeds in the summer transfer window.

The 26-year-old had a loan spell at Leeds from Swansea during the 2016-17 season and was hugely successful at Elland Road.

The defender forged a formidable partnership with Sweden international Pontus Jansson at the back, as the Whites narrowly missed out on a playoff spot in the Championship last season, and his arrival at Leeds would enhance the team’s chances of finishing in the top six during the 2018-19 campaign.
