Stuart Dallas played his first game of the season for Leeds United last night against Preston.

The result was a 2-0 loss for Leeds, as their rotated squad were outplayed by North End.

The Northern Ireland international had not featured beforehand due to injury.

Pundit Noel Whelan gave his view on Dallas’ performance, speaking to BBC Radio Leeds.

Whelan said that he felt Dallas looked rusty but it was a positive to have him back with the team.

He said: “Probably he would admit himself he’s done better in games but it is nice to see him back and he offers strength in depth.

“It was his first game after a long long time. It will do him a world of good.”

Dallas is entering his fourth season at Leeds after signing for the club in 2015 from Brentford.

The winger captained Leeds, which was a nice show of confidence in him upon his return.

Competition for a place is strong and so Dallas will not walk straight back into the side for league games, but in the coming weeks he will hope to earn a place and offer something different.
