Leeds defender impressed despite defeat.
Leeds United defender Pontus Jansson was one of the senior players to feature in the club’s Carabao Cup loss to Preston.
The Whites conceded two first half goals and were beaten 2-0 at Elland Road.
Jansson played in the previous round too and looked a bit rusty, but his latest performance impressed, despite Leeds’ defeat.
Pundit and former Leeds striker Noel Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds’ post-game coverage the he saw improvement from the Sweden international.
Whelan said: “Jansson he was excellent, aggressive. He looks much more like his old self.”
Whelan added that he was impressed by youngster Jamie Shackleton before he was taken off at half-time with a slight injury.
Jansson started the season behind schedule after missing Leeds’ pre-season, due to his World Cup involvement.
He missed the recent draw with Swansea due to injury before returning at the weekend for the win over Norwich.
Leeds will be relying on him againsr Middlesbrough on Friday night.
