Paul Heckingbottom’s Leeds United won against Queens Park Rangers at Elland Road in the Championship this afternoon.
Leeds United ended their 2017-18 Championship campaign on a positive note, as they got the better of Queens Park Rangers 2-0 at home.
The season have been hugely disappointing for Leeds, who started the campaign hoping to finish in the playoffs, but things have turned out differently for them.
The Whites, though, gave their fans something to cheer about, as they pick up all three points from the match against QPR at Elland Road.
Kemar Roofe opened the scoring in the 30th minute, and Kalvin Phillips doubled the advantage in the second minute of the second half.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he was pleased with the performance of Paul Heckingbottom’s side, but said that it was not enough for the fans given the season they have had.
Whelan told BBC Radio Leeds at full time (2:30pm, Sunday, May 6, 2018): “It’s a nice way to end, don’t get me wrong, but it’s still less than what these fans deserve.”
“They (the fans) deserve more, but it’s a good finish for them,” added Whelan.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at Elland Road on Sunday afternoon, hosts Leeds had 54% of the possession, took 13 shots of which six were on target, and earned nine corners, according to BBC Sport.
Visitors QPR had 46% of the possession, took seven shots of which one was on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.
