Leeds United have bounced back from their defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers with a comfortable win against Aston Villa this evening.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side suffered a 1-0 loss at the hands of Wolves at Elland Road in the Premier League on Monday evening.
The Whites have returned to winning ways in the league this evening, getting the better of Villa 3-0 away from home at Villa Park.
Patrick Bamford was the star of the show, as the former Chelsea and Nottingham Forest striker scored a hat-trick.
The 27-year-old striker found the net in the 55th, 67th and 74th minute of the Premier League game.
Former Leeds striker Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the win for the Whites, while Bielsa’s former translator Salim Lamrani is stunned at the hat-trick heroics of Bamford.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (9:55pm, October 23, 2020): “The second half, they were bar nearly perfect. The one mistake that allowed them an opportunity when we gave the ball away, that’s the only mistake really in my eyes that we did in the second half.
“But it has been incredible. The amount of work, passion, desire, commitment that was put into that second half is a joy to watch.”
Remarkable win for Leeds United
Villa headed into tonight’s match with a 100% record in the Premier League, having won all four of their previous games.
The Villans had hammered Liverpool 7-2 at home before the international break and would have been confident of a win against Leeds.
However, the Whites were the better side, especially in the second half, and they have deservedly picked up all three points from the game.
