Leeds United have got the better of Wigan Athletic 2-1 away from home in the Championship this afternoon.
Wigan took the lead at the DW Stadium after just six minutes when Reece James found the target.
Leeds, though, restored parity just three minutes later when Pablo Hernandez scored.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side went ahead just a minute into the second half through Kemar Roofe.
Noel Whelan was following the match, and the former Leeds striker was impressed with the performance of the West Yorkshire outfit.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time on Sunday afternoon (3:29pm, November 4, 2018): “Absolutely, character first of all because when you are 1-0 down early on in the game and have loads of time left, you have still got to have the strength of mind and character to get back on level terms, and they did it so so quickly, which I think was a benefit to them.”
“Wigan very rarely troubled us, bar that free kick,” added Whelan.
Over the course of the 90 minutes at the DW Stadium on Sunday afternoon, hosts Wigan had 33% of the possession, took six shots of which one was on target, and earned four corners, according to BBC Sport.
Visitors Leeds had 67% of the possession, took 12 shots of which four were on target, and earned six corners, according to BBC Sport.
The win against Wigan means that Leeds are now at the top of the Championship table with 30 points from 16 matches, level on points with second-placed Norwich City.
