Noel Whelan has given his take on BBC Radio Leeds (2:29pm, April 10, 2021) on Leeds United winning against Manchester City this afternoon..

Leeds have got the better of City 2-1 away from home at the Etihad Stadium in the Premier League.

Stuart Dallas put Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the lead in the 42nd minute, but the visiting team went down to 10 men when captain Liam Cooper was dismissed in the first minute of injury time.

City piled on the pressure in the second half and eventually found the equaliser in the 76th minute through Ferran Torres, but Dallas scored what proved to be the winner for Leeds in injury time.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he was delighted at the final result.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (2:29pm, April 10, 2021): “We have seen a real team performance. Defensively it has been so good, disciplined, desire, passion, everything you need to get something out of the game and more.”

Superb win for Leeds United

True, City manager Pep Guardiola made a number of changes to the starting lineup, but the Citizens still had the better players.

Leeds were superb defensibly and made good counter-attacking moves, and the win at the Etihad Stadium was fully deserved for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
