Noel Whelan has given his take on BBC Radio Leeds (9:57pm, March 19, 2021) on the win for Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United against Fulham this evening.

Leeds have got the better of Fulham 2-1 away from home at Craven Cottage in the Premier League.

Patrick Bamford gave the West Yorkshire club the lead in the 29th minute, but Joachim Andersen made it 1-1 on 38 minutes.

Raphinha made it 2-1 in the 58th minute, as Leeds went on to win the match 2-1.

Former Leeds striker Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he believes that the Whites are now safe from relegation.

The win leaves Leeds 11th in the Premier League table with 39 points from 29 matches.

Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds (9:57pm, March 19, 2021) when asked if Leeds are safe now: “In my eyes, absolutely. I said it before the game please take full three today away from Fulham, yeah.

“Mathematically it doesn’t stand, but in my heart and in my head, absolutely we are there again for another season lighting up the Premier League.”

Positive result

Leeds will now head into the international break on the back of a win, and that is great for the Whites.

Bielsa’s team have not been exactly great in recent weeks, but the victory over relegation candidates Fulham will surely make the mood better and enhance the confidence of the team.

Leeds are not going to get relegated to the Championship at the end of the season, and there is still a chance that they could end up in the European places in the Premier League table.
