Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United have failed to win against Derby County at Elland Road.
Leeds United have played out a 1-1 draw with Derby County at Elland Road in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side headed into the match against Derby on the back of a 2-0 win against Yorkshire rivals Barnsley away from home in the Championship.
The Whites were favourites against the Rams, and it did not come as a surprise when the home team took the lead in the 20th minute through an own goal from Max Lowe.
Leeds were the better team as the match progressed and had chances to add to their tally, including a penalty that Mateusz Klich failed to convert.
However, the hosts failed to increase their lead, and in the first minute of injury time, Chris Martin equalised for the visiting team.
Noel Whelan was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and the former Leeds striker has given his take on the final result.
Whelan said on BBC Radio Leeds at full time (2:24pm, Saturday, September 21, 2019): “You can’t keep playing like this, dominating sides and dominating possession, squandering chances and then not doing the job right at the other end. It’s criminal. The amount of points they have dropped now, this could be really detrimental come the end of the season.”
Over the course of the 90 minutes at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, hosts Leeds had 63% of the possession, took 13 shots of which five were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.
